It all started with a message from my old friend, Hannah.

Her dad, John Morgan, was downsizing and decided to part with a collection of ties he'd accumulated and worn to school and choral events over his musical and teaching career.

Instead of tossing them, Hannah had a brilliant idea: turn them into a quilt!

Alaine and I were thrilled with the opportunity to take on this unique project and I dove into Pinterest for inspiration. The possibilities were numerous but I finally found a design that combined use of the whole tie and a modern look. Alaine, with her incredible quilting skills, took the design and transformed it into a masterpiece.

Tira also helped.

As the quilt was coming together, I remembered Mr. Morgan's music class (starting from 1989 until the early 2000s) and his original songs he'd teach us. #totallyexcellentdude

When the quilt was finally finished, Hannah couldn't wait to share it. They arranged a surprise unveiling, and the look on his face was priceless. He was visibly moved, and we could tell he thought the quilt was rad.

We're so glad Hannah reached out to us for this project!
